Sponsored Post: Residence Hall Linens

Now while I’m not an undergrad anymore I still feel I hold a ton of knowledge on undergrad life.  My best area of expertise, setting up your dorm room.  For me this was always the most fun, it’s so important to make your dorm room an oasis, a comfortable home away from home.
Buying bedding and room accessories can really add up $$$$$, but Residence Hall Linens has some great bedding bundle options, as well as a ton of storage and decor ideas to add your personal touch without breaking the bank.  It’s seriously a one-stop shop for making your dorm room fun and all about you!
I’m loving the RHL Comfort Pack, it includes everything you need to start putting your room together from sheets, mattress pad, comforter, towels, a hamper, and more.  Best part is def the price, $199!  Here’s an example of one of the bedding options…
In terms of decor, Residence Hall Linens has some super cute wall decals…no mess at the end of the year when you need to take them down, that’s the best part!

Right now RHL is running a pretty great promo…save an extra $20 on bedding value packs when you use code SAVE20RHL at checkout!   Head on over and pick up any dorm room essentials now to get ahead of the game!

Lifestyle Post: RecycleBank

Okay so I know this post is a little off from my norm, but I think it’s really important AND it relates to getting free beauty/ fashion things…perfection!
We all know how important it is to recycle, we hear it all the time, etc. etc.  Well, I came across this amazing website over the summer, Recyclebank, where you can learn a TON of info on recycling [in a fun and interactive way], get points, and then get rewarded in a bunch of different ways.
Here’s the quick rundown…
Sign up for Recyclebank here.
Start earning points immediately, whether it’s reading a quick little blurb from a company [ex. this morning I read some quick tips from Coors about recycling aluminum] or playing a game.
Rack up some points and then redeem them for anything from one-year magazine subscriptions to $10 coupons to restaurants in your specific living area!  I’ve already subscribed to Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar, and InStyle…all. for. free.
They also have coupons for Dicks Sporting Goods, Macy’s, & shoes.com just to name a few.  The best part is, a lot of these rewards are 200pts and below…you could literally earn 200pts in 5mins or less.

It’s that easy.  Trust me.

Seriously, sign up right now & start earning.  We all know how crucial it is to recycle, so take the time to learn some new things, & get rewarded for it at the same time!! xo

Barneys +Disney = Electric Holiday

I had been refraining from posting too much Christmas-y things because I like to take it one holiday at a time, so now that Thanksgiving is over I can finally go all out with no apology.
I love Barneys and I love all things Disney.  THEREFORE, my excitement level over the collaboration between the two was through the roof when I first heard of it towards the end of the summer.
I’m obsessed with the promo video, I think it’s absolutely adorable, hilarious, magical, and I just love love love it.  The designers involved [Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Balenciaga, and more] really got creative and you can tell it was a fun campaign to create.  Not to mention, seeing cartoons of Naomi Campbell, Carine Roitfeld, and Daphne Guinness is quite amusing.

Now, I realize there has been controversy on the physical look of the Disney characters throughout the campaign [tall, super skinny].  Well, guess what everyone…this is what high fashion models look like.  As far as I’m concerned it’s not a big deal, calm down, and just enjoy it and leave the drama somewhere else.

The Electric Christmas collector’s items are all super cute and range from a $125 collector’s book to lollipops and ornaments.  Best part is, 25% of the proceeds are going to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief.  So, clearly I’m requesting one or two items from Santa!  Check out the collection here.
When I’m back in NJ for winter break I can’t wait to go into Manhattan and actually see the windows, I’ll be sure to take tons of pics!

Much To Be Thankful For…

I think this is my favorite decoration I own.
I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!!
Seeing as I’ve become obsessed with cooking since the summer, naturally I must share all the goodies I made for Thanksgiving, along with some other things!!
There are a few food items I forgot to take pictures of, terrible I know, but I’m adding the recipes below in case you want to try them out!
I hosted a Friendsgiving in my apartment before I drove back up to Jersey for the holiday.  Needless to say it was filled with amazing food and tons of wine.  I made the turkey, spinach gratin, sourdough/mushroom/bacon stuffing, cranberry-pumpkin muffins, and caramel apple cheesecake. [Click links for recipes].  Thank you to my Food Network app and my favorite person on earth the Barefoot Contessa, for teaching me how to prepare a turkey, I couldn’t have been more happy with the way it turned out!
My friends all bought something, we had a lovely cheese plate, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and brownies.  It was an amazing night that ended with spiked pumpkin eggnog, enough said.
Back at home…
In NJ we always have Thanksgiving at my house and this year I did more in the kitchen than I ever had before.  I was in charge of cocktail hour and then I made cranberry sauce, parm-garlic mashed potatoes, and thyme popovers for dinner.  For dessert I followed Paula Deens recipe for a pumpkin cheesecake.

Pigs in a blanket, deviled eggs, roasted shrimp cocktail, mozzarella/tomato/basil
and the main attraction…
I really wanted to have a cured meat and cheese platter as the main appetizer.  I went to Whole Foods and matched up meats with cheeses to create this!  It was so good and the best part is there are leftovers I never even put out! =]

Meats: Coppa, pepperoni, prosciutto, salami
Cheeses: Manchengo, Brie, Gruyere, Raschera, Unie Kaas Robusto

I love love love these champagne glasses.
&& My dining room…

Alton Brown’s Cranberry Sauce

Barefoot Contessa’s Thyme Popovers

Barefoot Contessa’s Parm [I added garlic] Smashed Potatoes

Love having my best friends over & I’M SO THANKFUL FOR THEMMMM.
Suppahhh cuteeee.
And of course, what is my time at home without my dogs…
I just thought this picture was funny.
Can’t believe the holiday season is in full swing!  I’m so excited to see what this season brings =]

POPSUGAR Must Have September Box

I know this is super late seeing that it’s the end of October..but better late than never, right?! + the point of this post is really just to show you all how awesome the POPSUGAR Must Have box is.
The POPSUGAR Must Have box is $35 monthly (although I’m not doing a subscription, I’m just gonna buy one whenever I have a little extra $$ to spend on it).  I had a $20 promo code, so I ended up only paying $15 for this box — which is a fraction compared to what all the products are worth.
I had previously seen the August box and couldn’t believe all the goodies in it, which obvz meant I just HADDDD to try out the September box.  I’m on the POPSUGAR website now and apparently the November box is all sold out, but you can reserve the December box (which I think I’m gonna do) by signing up here!!
First up, what I’d call the skincare/ beauty part of the box.  I died when I saw the benefit Cabana Glama palette.  I’m a benefit junkie, so this was the best part of the whole box.  This palette is on sale right now for $18 (orig. $36), so that already exceeds what I paid for the box. #winning
I’ve never used the yes to cucumbers line before, I know you can find it almost anywhere now, so I’m excited to try out their facial wipes.  Lastly, I got KITSCH Hair Ties, a brand I’m not familiar with.

This next part is yummy nomz.  I love caramel and these Becky’s Blissful Bakery Caramels don’t disappoint at all.  Loved them.  I’m not big into sweet potatoes, but these Food Should Taste Good chips were yum.  And lastly, who doesn’t love cookies(?!), courtesy of Pop Up Pantry.
After the benefit palette I was absolutely in love with this scarf from Brokedown.  It’s so soft and can go with anything and everything in my closet.  I’m not familiar with this brand, Brokedown, but apparently it’s pretty popular among celebs.  AND, it retails for $84…awesome.
Lastly, I got a super cute Rifle & Co. lined notepad, the book Perks of Being a Wallflower, and who doesn’t need another cosmetic pouch?!  But really, I’m always using 500 cosmetic pouches.  I also got a $25 gift certificate for the Tracie Martyn skincare line, I’ve never used any of her products, so I’m excited to try something out!!
Overall I was so impressed with this box and will def be ordering another one in the future.  The total cost of the box is def over $175, and seeing as I paid $15, I’d say it was a great investment!
I know $35 may be a lot to pay every month, it adds up after awhile.  BUT, you can always find a coupon code for the first month you try it, and then just cancel your subscription after that!  It’s so worth it, I promise you won’t be disappointed!!

Halloween Party Inspiration

I’ll be hosting a Halloween party in my apartment this year and being that I love all things holiday related and decorating I’m using Pinterest to gather some inspiration for decoration ideas and most importantly…food ideas!

Check out some of the amazing Halloween spreads I found while happily letting time slip by searching Pinterest!!
I’m definitely making this for sure!

Get the recipe for these Frankenstein treats, and others, here!
I wish I had a front porch to do this, love all those pumpkins!

Super simple and inexpensive idea, fill dollar store class holders with candy corn and a tea light candle.

LOVE this!
Too easy: vanilla pudding, orange sprinkles, and crushed Oreos!
I’m def making those fruit sticks!  Get some more recipes here
Super easy snack!

Obviously, I’ll be making this!  Here’s the recipe!

NutterButters dipped in white chocolate, so simple!

Another super easy and inexpensive way to decorate!

Post Party Survival Kit

One of my best friends turned 21 on Friday night, so naturally a large joyous party took place.  While the night of a party is always sure to be a good (memorable?) time, the morning may bring some aches, pains, and smeared eyeliner. SO, I make sure I always have my morning-after-survivor-kit no matter what.  It’s not too much stuff just enough to make me feel like a human being again in case I need to go somewhere and can’t go home right away (usually it’s meeting my mother for Cheesecake Factory to help me come back to life).
The first thing you’ll need is a small tote bag that can still fit a lot in it.  I always use my Marc by Marc Jacobs nylon tote, it’s not too big but it fits what I need it to!  Next, I put a big t-shirt, sweatpants, and a pair of socks in for whenever I desire to go to sleep.  I never bring shorts because you never know if you’ll have a blanket so sweatpants just make that easier!  Socks are also super important to me because I hate sleeping without socks on.   Hmm, I also keep my Hello Kitty pillow in my car at all times because, you never know when you’ll need a pillow.
NEXT, I pack my bathroom essentials.  First, a toothbrush/ small toothpaste…duh. I also make sure I have a comb, not that I’ll particularly care about my hair if I have a awful headache but still it’s just good to have.  Since most of the time people don’t wash their makeup off after taking shots of vodka it’s crucial to wash it off right when you wake up the next morning.  I bring my travel bottle of Philosophy’s Purity face wash, I use this all the time and it gets the job done even on smeared eyeliner and now clumpy mascara.
After I wash my face for a hot minute I moisturize with….Vita-Zing my favorite product on the whole planettttttt!!! And I always use Rosebud lip balm.  Usually at this point I look like a half-normal human which is always better than looking like a zombie!
I also make sure I bring deodorant and my biggest pair of sunglasses to hide my face the best I can.  Oh, ya, Advil is probably a good idea to have on hand too (although I don’t have any right now) #justsayin.
ONE LAST THING, always have a huge bottle of water with you.  I usually bring a liter bottle…right when you wake up it’s crucial to drink drink drink…water and nothing else (including my beloved hangover drink, iced coffee).  It’ll sometimes immediately alleviate a headache and it’ll reduce redness or puffiness in your face from dehydration!!
