Budget Beauty: CoverGirl TruBlend

I’m all about Budget Beauty when it comes to skincare. There are some awesome wallet friendly skincare brands and products on the market! Recently, I’m slowly coming around to introducing more budget friendly makeup options, a couple of which are the CoverGirl TruBlend products. I often partner with Influenster when new products come out- so I was super excited when I got a nice little CoverGirl package in the mail! I received four products, I’ll feature two of them today, and two next week.

The first product I tried out was the new TruBlend Base Business Primer. I love a good primer, especially because I have oily skin. & I need a primer to set my makeup up for success through the day. I typically reach for high end primers, thinking that the quality is better than your average drug store brand. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the TruBlend Base Business Primer! I’ve been using it daily before work, after applying my current moisturizer, & I’m loving how my makeup looks after a long day of teaching!

Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox 2012

Since I’m most likely going to describe what Influenster is incorrectly, here’s what it is straight from their website…

Influenster is a free-to-join community of invited trendsetters who live to give opinions of products and experiences. Influenster creates links between brands and members to reward participation and influence future products.

So basically it works like this, I unlock various “badges” related to beauty, fashion, lifestyle, really there’s like 500 different options — from this I can give my opinions, interact with other community members about their opinions, take different types of surveys, and ultimately interact with various brands as well.

I got an email saying Influenster was accepting applications for the Beauty Bloggers VoxBox 2012, so I completed a survey (giving my blog info, asking beauty regime questions, etc.), and a few weeks later I was told I was chosen to participate!
I was too excited when I got my box…so check it out!!

I love love love Slatkin & Co. candles [found in Bath and Body Works] so I was thrilled to see a fall themed, Pumpkin Cupcake, mini candle…perfect for my kitchen!!  I also got a coupon for $10 off the full size, three-wick, Slatkin & Co. candles [up to 5..amazing] — since they retail for $20, I’m getting 50% off which is great since I need to start stocking up on Christmas candles!!

The next product is goody’s simple styles Spin Pin — I’m not very good when it comes to doing my own hair, other people yes I can do their hair, my own…not so much.  I still haven’t had time to try these out, but since I have a super social weekend coming up, I’ll def try them out!

Next up is Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream.  I use products like this all the time on my hair, and I used this the other day after I washed.  It worked just as well as other products I’ve used, gives lots of body and good texture — I’m happy with it!
The last two products are from No7, a night cream which was okay nothing too special, but I still liked it — and a cleansing lotion which I also enjoyed but wasn’t wowed by.  If anything I enjoyed the cleansing lotion more…my skin was left super clean but no feeling of dryness or tightness, which is always important!!
Both of these products were for normal to dry skin, which I don’t really fall under, so maybe that’s why I wasn’t too impressed.
I’m so appreciative to have been chosen for this Beauty Blogger VoxBox and I can’t wait for Influenster to send the final survey for me to complete!
Disclaimer: I received these products from Influenster as part of an online program.  I did not pay for these products, nor am I being paid to review them!
