Thursday’s Fab Five

I love the summer, it’s my birthday season, the beach is my best friend, I love outdoor happy hours…but when August rolls around, and the new school year starts…there’s just something about fall that gets me all super excited.  Fall scented candles, Sunday football, slow cooker meals, & mulled wine…ARGH, I love it so much!!

Thursday's Fab Five

Here are some things I’ve been loving the past few weeks, tweet me (@elizabethmayce) some of your recent favorites!!

Um, yes I started burning fall candles September 1st when it was still quite warm out, and no I don’t care.  Sweater Weather is one of my favorite scents, it’s woodsy with notes of sage, juniper berry & eucalyptus.  It isn’t overpowering, and freshens up my living room perfectly.  Bath & Body Works always sells through this one, so if it’s a favorite I suggest you stock up like my Mom & I!  & an even sweeter deal, B&BW candles are $12.50 right now compared to the full price $22.50, and use code PUMPKINLUV for $10 off $30!
I’ve been using this for a month as bubble bath, and I loveeeeee it!  We all know The Body Shop is all about Community Trade, which is why I always return to this brand.  The olive oil is from Italy, and has such a light scent that leaves my skin soft and feeling great.  Right now this product is 30% off, only $7, so I might head to the store this weekend to pick up another one.
This mask is an awesome budget friendly option!  It exfoliates great, it’s not too rough on my skin, and leaves me feeling super smooth and fresh.  I can get two uses out of one packet as well, which is awesome.  The pearl powder helps with inflammation, which is perfect for me since I have rosacea.  Since I’m all about face masks the quality of this product for the price is great, it isn’t cheap and gets the job done.

I already have a pair of these boots, but I’ve worn them so much the past two years, I need a new pair!!  They are so comfortable, go with anything, & I love the mix of cognac and black.  The price can’t be beat either.  You will wear this all of the time, I promise!!

Jouer Lip Enhancer Conditioning Lip Treatment, $16
I love Jouer lip glosses, so when I recieved the conditioning lip treatment in a sample bag I was so excited to try it out!  Yes, this is def considered a luxury product with that price tag for a lip balm, but it is such a lovely product.  I’m currently keeping this in my work bag, it keeps my lips hydrated and helps to decrease fine lines.  A few of my friends have tried it out and have loved it too!

Remember to let me know your recent favorites, over on Twitter! @elizabethmayce

Thursday’s Fab Five

After an incredible European adventure, I’m back and prepping for some new content, and a brand new school year.  I report back to work on Monday, so I’m trying to have a solid line up of posts done before that!  Between using a ton of new products, #TravelTuesday’s, and some new recipes, I think I have a great line up for you!
Thursday's Fab Five

In the meantime, here’s my Fab Five for this week!
As I cling on to my last days of summer, I need a candle that aromatically transports me to the beach.  I’m a huge fan of Voluspa, they last forever, and the scents are so fresh & clean.  Laguna mixes white freesia and Cali verbena to create a well balanced flowery beach scent through the apartment- I love it!  I know this candle is a bit pricey compared to others, but I always buy Voluspa during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, they have both the large (this size) and small sizes in the sale, sold in a pack of 3.  Last year I bought a the pack of the large candles, and Laguna is my last one.  This year I bought a pack of the small candles and use them in the bathroom.
New school year = new planner.  I’m always switching up the planners I use, and now I’m making the move to the Day Designer, created by Whitney English.  I opted for the less expensive version English created for Blue Sky.  They’re sold at Target as well as the Blue Sky website, and seeing that I had a Target gift card to use, it just made sense.  $25 for an in-depth planner like this is a steal-  I highly advise checking out the Day Designer line, it has caught my eye for years, I can’t believe I’m just using it for the first time now!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchase, so no, I did not drop $88 on a sweatshirt.  It’s so comfy, peep the neckline, super cute, and describes my weekend life perfectly…so of course I needed it.  Oh, and the color is super unique yet goes with everything, love it.
Casey Holmes is one of my favorite YouTuber’s, so when she released a highlight palette with Smashbox I knew I needed it!  There are two versions of this palette, I bought Pearl for lighter skin tones, and then there’s Gold for more tan/ darker tones.  I love that there are 3 highlights in the palette, they’re all soft, and range from the amount of sparkle.  I found myself mixing the colors a lot, and using the lightest shade as a eyeshadow base since it has the least shimmer, but highlights the brow bone perfectly.  It’s a versatile palette of highlights, and I used it every day when I was in Europe!
My best friend, Heather, got me an array of Lush products for my birthday- she knows me too well.  One of the things in the box was this lip balm, and OMG IT IS AWESOME. I’m a big Burts Bees girl, but this lip balm smells so good- honey, vanilla, and white chocolate…it’s great!  Aside from the great smell, it’s super hydrating with almond oil, beeswax, and Shea butter.  Next time you’re in Lush, try it out, it’s perfect to keep on hand in your purse, or on your desk.
Connect with me on social media, and let me know what you’ve been loving lately!!

Thursday’s Fab Five

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July Weekend!!  I’m still on weekend time & I cannot believe it’s already Thursday.  I’ve been loving quite a few things the past couple of weeks, check them out below and let me know what you think on my Twitter or Instagram!  Make sure you’re following me on Snapchat too, @elizabethmayce =)
Thursday's Fab Five

& since I reference Ebates in this post…let me give you my quick spiel on why I love the program so much…

If you’re not an Ebates member yet, you’re missing out on major cash back opportunities!  You can sign up through this link to receive $10 as a sign up bonus after your first purchase!  Installing an add on to your search bar makes it so easy to activate the Ebates link when you’re shopping, Ebates will alert you to activate the cash back link when you visit the site, so no need to remember which sites allow Ebates and which don’t.  Seriously, in total, I’ve earned about $200 in cash back since I started using & I have the money I’ve earned directly deposited into my savings account when Ebates does their payouts.  I highly suggest becoming a member, it literally pays off!!
I’ve been at the beach and the pool a lot lately, and it’s important to always wear sunscreen.  I use SPF 30 because I do want to get some color when I’m out, but of course I don’t want to burn.  It might sound annoying to have to do, but I reapply this often to make sure I’m building color without building a burn.  I’ve found this works great, I’m a huge fan of Neutrogena sunscreen!  PS: Ulta is having a buy one, get one 50% off promotion right now…& if you shop with Ebates you’ll earn 3% cash back.
I love Pacifica, they’re an affordable brand (i.e. you can find them at Ulta & Target) and they’ve come out with some great products lately.  If you’re at the beach all day and need to transition to dinner time, but aren’t going back home to shower, etc. I love using these wipes to freshen up after a day in the sun.  It’s not always ideal to carry deodorant in your beach bag, it’ll most likely melt and be gross, so these deodorant wipes are perfect to use instead.  The coconut milk + kale extract is my favorite so far!
I just finished this book, and it was incredible.  As a woman, and as a woman in education, I knew I needed to read this book to learn more about the amazing and heroic story of Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by the Taliban, simply for going to school.  Her family background is incredible, and her journey is so inspiring.  This is a great summer read if you’re looking for some girl power and want to learn a thing or two on how to be awesome and true to your beliefs.
*The price is for the Kindle edition, which I always prefer because I can read my books on my iPhone or iPad!

During the summer I love using a body scrub if I’ve been sweating, feel oily, etc.  Since summertime can also mean possibly sunburnt skin, or peeling, you don’t want to use anything too harsh that’ll irritate.  The Satsuma Body Polish is an exfoliant that I find to be super light while getting rid of any dead skin cells.  It’s moisturizing from the Satsuma oil, which is great if you’ve been out in the sun for a while, & the gel texture is cool and calming.  Right now The Body Shop has this product on sale from $20, to $12, which is an incredible buy!  & using Ebates will earn you an additional 4% cash back!

I’ve been bringing this beach tote everywhere with me!!  One of my friends actually made me a personalized version of this bag using her die cut machine…and I am so obsessed with it…see picture below!  The bag is huge, it’s sturdy enough to fit all my beach/ pool needs, the pineapple is ridiculously cute, and if you’re cool and crafty, you can easily turn this into an awesome gift for someone!
Please share your thoughts with my on Twitter and/or Instagram, & let me know what some of your favorites are too! =)

Thursday’s Fab Five

AH, I HAVEN’T DONE ONE OF THESE IN FOREVER!!  Ugh, so embarrassing…let’s get back on track.  Here are some products, and things, I’ve been loving for the past…I can’t believe it’s been so long…month!

Thursday's Fab Five

Memorial Day Weekend my friends and I went to Ocean City, MD and I bought my two best friends, Heather, and Krysten, this wine glass as a birthday treat.  Flamingos are quite popular these days, and this wine glass is just too cute for words!  Also, it’s on sale, so…why wouldn’t you buy one or two for summer ’17?!
In case you missed Tuesday’s post, I featured 3 products from Ole Henriksen’s Balance Oil Control line.  The products are phenomenal, incredible for the summertime and fighting humidity which of course, makes those with oily skin more in danger of a breakout.  I also love that there’s a travel kit for this line too!  All link are in the post, so check it out, here!

Express Distressed Slash Neck Tank, $10
The Express website is sold out of these tanks, but I know for a fact they are still in stores, I was just there the other day!  I bought 4…yes, 4…of these in different colors because they were on sale…originally $20 down to $10!  The material and fit of this tank is super relaxed, and perfect for summer.  I’ve worn mine to the pool, out to happy hour, to dinner, this tank is super functional.  Check the website for locations near you that still have stock!

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanilla Hand Creme, $18
Def a luxury product, but sometimes we all need a little lux in our lives.  I’ve been a huge Laura Mercier fan for years and years, and I love her bath and lotion products.  I’ve been using this hand creme a lot recently, the smell is heavenly, and it gives great hydration with vanilla and grape seed extracts.  Hand creme is something you always need, but don’t use a lot of, so spending $18 to have it for a while, and seriously loving the product, makes it worth it for me.

Schick Hydro Silk Razor, $9
I’m typically a Venus girl, but I saw this on sale and I gave it a try…turns out I’m loving it way more than I ever loved Venus.  I love the shape the handle, and I haven’t had any issues with the razor, or replacements.  Daily shaving is required during the summer months, and Schick Hydro is working really well for me!  PS: If you have Ebates, and shop through the link above, you could earn 7% cash back!

Looking forward to getting back on track with Thursday’s Fab Five…I have many products on the list to share with you all!

Thursday’s Fab Five

Spring time is in the air, am I right?!  I’m loving every minute of the warm D.C. weather, & although allergies are certainly making my life way more difficult, I really don’t care.  I will say though, it’s a good thing I’ve had some awesome favorites to focus on in between sneezes!
Tweet me, @elizabethmayce, what you’ve been loving recently!  I’m always looking to try new things & products!

Thursday's Fab Five

My coworker has this super cute mug, and then I randomly saw in Target and just had to buy it!  This makes for a super cute gift whether it’s for someone special…or yourself!  These types of mugs are trendy right now, you can actually use it for caffeine, or as storage for colorful pens and highlighters.

Another Target purchase, this doormat is adorable, and if you love your home as much as I do, then you def need it!  I mean come on, it’s so welcoming & the price point is great too.
Not only is this color named for the current month, but it’s high shine icy pink color is too perfect for the season.  Whether you’re going to an Easter brunch this weekend or just hanging out with friends, this is the perfect spring lip color.  I have quite a few Buxom Lip Polish favorites, and April has quickly become one of them!
This is the first Ulta shower gel I’ve used, and surprise, surprise, I loved it!  First of all, the scent is incredible, I especially loved the hint of white flowers, it felt so luxurious.  As with all shower gels, hydration can be a concern, but this has Shea butter, green tea, and vitamins D, C, A, and E to keep skin soft and moisturized.

Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara, $21
I had a few samples of this mascara, and I just used up my last one this week.  I will definitely be purchasing this, I loved the way it gave my lashes volume, length, and curl.  The black is super dark and perfect for the look I like, and I never found this mascara to be drying for my lashes.  Also, can we just look at the packaging for a moment???!! I love, love, love, the packaging of this mascara…it looks so luxurious and vampy.  One last note…this is a Vegan friendly product!

Thursday’s Fab Five

Happy Thursday!!
March is a long month for teachers, there are no days off, and we’re just counting down the seconds until Spring Break in April.  I’ve been using this month to get into some more routines, get through some products I’ve been ignoring, & catch up on some favorite shows.  Here are some things I’ve been loving through this end of March!

Thursday's Fab Five

I bought this organizer in the beginning of the month, but didn’t find time to fill it until just this week.  Awful, I know.   I love this three piece set, it fits most of my lip products, blushes, concealers, and single shadows.  You won’t be able to fit any palettes in these drawers- but that’s okay with me, I have my eye on some cute palette organizers anyway.  The price point is perfect, and so far the quality is great too.  If you’re looking for an acrylic organizer, which can sometimes cost a pretty penny, this one is the perfect price!
This blush is one of my favorites, and I’m going to have a more detailed review of this, and some more favorites, soon!  Hourglass makes incredible products, I have a few of their blushes, but the Golden Fuchsia is one I (and my Mom) have repurchased.  They aren’t cheap, but the lighting effects of the blush, particulary with this color, are incredible.  I’ve gotten many compliments on this blush when I’m wearing it, and I wear this everyday to work- the slight golden shimmer allows me to skip a highlight for the workday.
I had 5 or 6 samples of this product that for some reason I was saving…?  Anyway, I used up the last sample on Monday, and I really enjoyed using this product!! First of all, the consistency was much different than any other eye cream I’ve used, it reminded me of the consistency of Benefit’s POREfessional Primer, not too “lotion” like but also not “gel” like either.  The purpose of this product is to combat under-eye bags and dark circles.  Seeing that I’ve been non-stop this entire month, I probably should have some bags under my eyes, but I don’t, and I’m crediting this product for that.
I love this mortar & pestle and use it weekly for my homemade guacamole.  It has a classic look and is super heavy but I loveeeeee using it each time I make my guac or when I’m crushing peppercorns for a meal.  It’s a little awkward to fit in the dishwasher, but I make it work, I find this is easier than handwashing it because of the texture of the bowl.
Big Little Lies on HBO
I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS BOOK, like, years ago when it first came out!!  It’s a murder mystery mixed with real life issues some women face daily, oh yeah, and a little bit of Mom drama.  I was on the fence when I learned this great book was being made into a series, but as soon as I watched the first episode, I was hooked.  It truly does stick to the book, which I really appreciate, and because they’ve done this so well, I almost like it a tad more than the book!!  If you haven’t read Big Little Lies, I highly suggest it, it’s an excellent beach read or, for me, a great at home Spa Sunday type of book.

Let me know what you’ve been loving during the month of March, in the comments below!!

Thursday’s Fab Five…on a Saturday

Better late than never!
Before I share what my favorites for the past few weeks have been, I wanted to tell you all to enter a fabulous giveaway I’m hosting with skincare brand Tree of Life.  They’re giving away a Serum Pack, a set of four serums that target a variety of skincare needs for all skin types.  Check out the giveaway, HERE and enter!!  I’ve been using these serums for a few weeks now, and I’ve been really happy with the products.  The dropper applicator is my favorite, and I’ve loved switching back and forth through the serums, depending on what I feel my skin needs that day.  Tree of Life is a small company, and I want to help spread their great products, so make sure you enter to win this awesome serum pack!!

Thursday's Fab Five

Alex & Ani ‘Quill Feather’ Bangle, $58
This is one of my favorite Alex & Ani’s I own, and since I’m staring at it on my wrist right now, I figured I should share it as a Thursday’s Favorite!  I like this one the best because it’s different than your typical Alex & Ani, and the feather meaning of truth, light, & virtue, is really speaking to me right now in life.  I have this bangle in gold, which I think looks better than the silver, but really either one is super cute.

LOFT Striped Infinity Scarf, $35
Love a cute scarf.  Love the coloring of this one.  & it’s on sale, with an additional 40% off this weekend using the code NEWNOW.

LOFT ‘Mixed Media Shell’ Shirt, $39.50
I have this LOFT shirt in like 4 different colors.  Tall girl confession: sometimes I have issues with shirts being long enough for me, ugh, so annoying.  I love the style and fit of this shirt, the material is light and moves well.  The variety of colors LOFT always puts out is great, & the functionality is perfect for both work and after work.  Use the code NEWNOW for 40% off this weekend!!

Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Activator Serum, $65
I meant to share this serum a while ago.  I had many samples of this product, and have finally used them all up.  I’m a huge fan of Clarisonic skincare products, although they are on the expensive side.  This serum is ideal to use in the morning since it does work to make skin look fresh and radiant.  My skin felt great each time after I used this product, and while I might not purchase the full size because of the price, see if you can snatch up a few samples next time your around a Clarisonic counter!

Wet Brush Detangling Paddle Brush, $11
This is my second Wet Brush and words cannot describe how much I love these brushes.  My hair can be coarse, especially underneath where I have bleached color, so I need a really great detangling brush.  I am so impressed with how well this brush detangles my hair after an insane night out, or after a deep conditioning treatment.  Wet Brushes don’t pull at the hair, it’s never uncomfortable no matter how awful the knots, etc.  EVERYONE NEEDS ONE OF THESE!!

 XO.

Thursday’s Fab Five

Why has this week felt so long, and it’s only Thursday?! I cannot wait for the weekend to be here to relax, catch up on some blogging & grading, and to just simply relax.  There’s always so much going on!
Cannot wait for the next Scandal tonight…last week was out of control & I loved every minute of it!
Anyhoo, check out the top five products I’ve been loving for the past two weeks.  I definitely see some full size purchases in my future!

Thursday's Fab Five

You have no idea how sad I was when I used up my third sample of this product…I literally made a sad face I was so bummed.  Guess this means I have to drop $46 on the full size because seriously this product is incredible.  This oil made my skin look so fresh and radiant, I was shocked each time I applied it and then saw myself in the mirror.  The sunflower and Tamanu oils along with ginger root oil help to show your best you, the antioxidants fight free radicals  & do a great job at it.  The oil didn’t affect me applying makeup and I think it actually allowed me to use less makeup since my skin was so much brighter.  Def not a budget product, but def an incredible product.
Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Gel-to-Oil Cleanser, $28
My nightly skincare routine always involves a double cleanse, first with a specific makeup remover like this Bliss product, and then with a targeted face cleanser.  I’ve been using this Gel-to-Oil cleanser for a while now, the gel part is definitely interesting, but I like the consistency of when it changes from gel to oil.  It takes off my waterproof mascara perfectly, and removes all makeup to prep my skin for whichever targeted cleanser I choose for the night.

MAC Tinted Lipglass in Pink Nouveau, $16
I love love love the light pink color this gives my lips, and my favorite part, the shine factor is high.  It’s so easy to put this on top of your favorite lipstick for some added kick, but I also love wearing this on its own too.  MAC has a lot of great lipglass colors, but this one caught my eye because I think it’s so flexible in how many different lipsticks you could pair it with.

Starbucks Quilted Pink Double Wall Traveler, $18.95
The Valentine’s Day collection from Starbucks this year is perfection.  The light pinks, hearts, and glitter tumblers are basically almost sold out everywhere, so I knew I needed to move fast on this quilted pink traveler mug.  I have nice little collection of these, I use them every day for work, so adding another one to my collection was no big deal.  I love the color, it’s nice and bright, and the quilted look gives it a cute winter vibe.

Bath & Body Works Cinnamon Caramel Swirl 3-Wick Candle
This scent is no longer available online, but you might be able to find it in store!  It’s super sweet, which I usually don’t love, but for some reason I really really like this scent!  I have it burning in my kitchen now, so if you love sweet smelling candles, this one will be perfect for you!

Thursday’s Fab Five

Today on Thursday’s Fab Five I’m featuring the top 5 makeup products I used all week!  I’m mixing some budget beauty with some of my Sephora favorites, let me know your thoughts!

Thursday's Fab Five

This is my favorite foundation ever, and I keep needing to buy more because I go through it so quickly.  From the price point, to coverage, to just being a quality foundation, I love love love my Infallible Matte Pro foundation.  The color range seems decent too, which is helpful from season to season.
Now I know this isn’t the cheapest mascara on the block, but so many elements of this mascara makes it my current favorite of the moment.  I love the brush, it coats all of my lashes, and gives great length & volume.  I haven’t had any smudging issues and it’s super black, my lashes look incredible every time I use it!

Lorac Golden Glow TANtalizer Baked Bronzer, $33
I’ve been using this for a while, and I love the soft glow it gives me.  It does have some sparkle to it, so I use it sparingly, but it doubles as a great soft highlight and bronzer each day.  & I love baked makeup products, so that’s a double bonus.

Benefit Cosmetics Rockateur Blush, $29
A gorgeous rose gold blush that I cannot get enough of.  First of all, I’ve always been obsessed with the Benefit blushes, and this one is rich in color and looks great on all skin types.  It’s natural looking and very “buildable”, depending on how dramatic of a look you want.  Oh yeah, and the packaging is superrrrr, superrrr, cute!!

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian, $20
First of all, let me say, Buxom is my all time favorite lip gloss brand.  I love the variety in colors, I love the ingredients that plump, and I love the shine it gives to my look.  White Russian is a pale nude, it goes with everything, and works whether you’re dressed up, or dressed down.  I have two, I keep one in my beauty room & one in my bag, at all times.

What are some things you’ve been loving this week!?

Thursday’s Fab Five

Ah, after so many awesome Christmas presents I don’t know where to start in terms of what I’ve been loving the past two weeks!!  Check out some new favorites, and one or two oldie favorites, that I’ve been using daily, after the jump!

Thursday's Fab Five

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer, $31
One of my favorite primers ever!  This is the only primer I used while on holiday break and it did an incredible job, especially for New Year’s Eve!  I love the silky feeling when you apply this, it has an interesting texture that I really like.  It’s both mattifying and pore minimizing, two things I’m always trying to combat.  It’s the perfect base for any foundation and absorbs quickly so you can continue right on with your routine.  Stop into Ulta and see if you can get a sample of this product, it’ll last a few times and you can really get a great sense of the type of primer it is!

My Christmas Day mani featured this deep purple/ burgundy color.  It was a perfect mix of vampy yet still holiday appropriate.  This is one of my favorite Essie colors, it’s super chic and looks great in different lighting.
The Body Shop Shea Body Butter, $12.60
On sale right now at Ulta!! This is an old favorite, I’ve used this Shea body butter for years.  The smell is incredible and rich, and the quality of The Body Shop body butters is awesome, without an outrageous price tag.  I highly recommend using any body butter, especially in the winter.
Kay Dee Designs ‘Life’s a Hoot’ Kitchen Towel, $4.99
A super cute kitchen towel both my Mom & my Aunt bought it for me for Christmas- I didn’t mind the double gift though!  I love having one on each end, and a darker green kitchen towel in the middle, hanging from the oven door.  A bright and cheery new kitchen addition, how could it not make this week’s favorites list.

Bath & Body Works ‘Fresh Balsam’ 3-Wick Candle, $11.25
Unfortunately this candle is sold out online, but I am sure your local Bath & Body Works still has some in stock.  I know this is a popular Christmas candle, but I love it for the entire winter.  It’s fresh, warm, and cozy…which is exactly what we all need on a January night.  Bonus is that it’s on sale, yay!!

I have so many more favorites to share with you all!  I’m going to try my best to make this a bi-weekly post through the year.  Hoping to bring you tons of new products, both beauty & home, to try!
