Thursday’s Fab Five

Happy Thursday!  There’s been so much going on recently, all great things, & I’m so happy to be back today to share five of my recent favorites.

Yes to Detoxifying Charcoal Paper Mask, $3

I spoke about this mask on my Insta-stories last week because Target was & still is, having a 25% off sale on all Yes To products!  I love a good charcoal mask, but the application & clean up process can sometimes be a bit too much, if ya know what I mean.  Having a charcoal mask in sheet mask form, especially with a ton of product on it, is perfect for a Wednesday night.  The fit could be a tiny bit better but given how budget friendly this mask is, it’s really no big deal.

Londontown Nail Care + Summer ’18 Polish

If you know me, then you know I’m obsessed with nail polish.  I have a great polish wall filled with all sorts of amazing brands + colors.  One new brand that I’ve added to my collection is Londontown, a great vegan and cruelty free brand featuring botanical and mineral oils as ingredients.  They sent over a great package for me, and I’ve really been able to explore the brand and the awesome products they make!

First, let’s start out with nail care.  The health of your nails will help any mani last just a bit longer.  I have acrylic nails, which I get refilled every two weeks, but when I decided to take a break from them last year, I hunted for a great nail strengthener.  The ingredients in Londontown’s Nail Hardener & Base Coat will help you build a great base for your manicure.  The Kur on top of all their nail care products signifies the brand blend of natural ingredients & botanical blends.  Doesn’t botanical blends just sound amazing?!  Since I haven’t needed to use a nail hardener/ base coat since getting my acrylics back, I’m going to pass it along to a friend that can use it, and I’ll report back on what she thinks!

Thursday’s Fab Five

Happy Thursday!  I’m so happy the winter break is almost here, teaching has been exhausting this year.  I’m also super excited for this upcoming Saturday, Rob & I are hosting a holiday party, Cookies & Wine at 4089 which of course will feature tons of homemade cookies, even tons more wine, and I’m adding in a taco bar for sustenance.

Here are five things I’ve been loving the past few weeks, and all would make great presents too!

Thursday’s Fab Five

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching & I love being at home on the weeknights cooking dinner and catching up on my favorite shows.  Don’t you?!

The weather has been so weird here in D.C., first it was warm and gross, now it’s cold and clammy.  I honestly can’t keep up with it, and neither can my sinuses!!  The beginning of the week was chilly & rainy, it legit felt like January and gave me the worst sinus headache.  So annoying.

I can’t wait to have off from work tomorrow and drive up to NJ for a wedding!  My good friend Mike…we’ve been friends since pre-k 4, can you believe that…is getting married!!!  It’s going to be such an epic celebration, so make sure you’re following along on both Snapchat (@elizabethmayce) and Instagram stories, @elizabethmayce!

Here are some things I’ve been loving recently, some classic favorites and some new goodies too.  Tweet me some favorites of yours @elizabethmayce!

Thursday's Fab Five

Bath & Body Works Candle in Sweater Weather, $12.50
Right now all B&BW candles are $12.50, which gives you a perfect excuse to go out and buy tons of fall and winter scents.  My favorite for this time of year is def Sweater Weather- it always sells out, so make sure to buy some quickly!  Sweater Weather is the perfect fall scent with notes of woods, eucalyptus, juniper berry, and sage.  The apartment smells incredible within 5 minutes of lighting this, & as I said, it’s everyone’s favorite, so buy it now!!  PS: Ebates gives 1% cash back on Bath & Body Works purchases, if you aren’t an Ebates member, join here!

The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Skin Boost, $29
I wrote about this product back 2012…yes, 2012. Shocking.
It just recently reentered my life, and o.m.g. why did I ever stop using this?!  This skin boost is an incredible morning serum to use, it instantly brightens up my complexion, which has been much needed with this week’s weather.  You can read my original thoughts here, keep in mind, this post was from 2012- but my thoughts on how great the product is, are still the same!
Right now The Body Shop’s having a buy 3, get 3 free promotion.  & Ebates gives you 3% cash-back on your purchase!

Essie Kimono Over Polish, $9
My polish this week is this gorgeous deep purple from Essie’s fall collection last year.  It goes with everything, is the right degree of vampy, and will coordinate perfectly with my cobalt color dress for a wedding this weekend!  This was def one of my favorite colors from last year’s collection, and I’m so happy to be bringing it back into my life this season!  Shop through the link above, and save 2% cash-back through Ebates on HSN!

Gap’s High Rise Ankle Jeggings in Rich Wine, $30
YOU. MUST. GET. THESE. Originally $60, these pants are so comfortable and the rich wine color is amazing with any boot you might have.  I love the rips, they’re subtle enough where people don’t give you a side eye, but just enough to be edgy.  Did that make sense?  I bought these about 2 weeks ago (for 40% off, not 50%!!), and I love, love, love, they way they fit and feel.  I bought the tall size, so they are full length and also look great with heels and flats.   I’m thinking about buying the black moss color as well…for this price, it’s a serious steal.  Use code CHEERS to save an additional 20% off, and use Ebates for 2% cash-back on your purchase!

Dog Mother, Wine Lover Muscle Tee, $30
I love the CoffeeInTheShower Instagram page, so when I saw they had a coupon code, I finally purchased this cute, and incredibly truthful, tee in black.  I love these graphic tees, and I’ve ordered from this company a few times.  It’s decent quality, comfortable fits, and I just love how this tee can perfectly describe me as a human being.

Have a fabulous weekend!!

2017 Spring Polish Trends

It’s officially warm & sunny in D.C., & while I’ve been wearing transition polish colors the past few weeks, I am so ready to break free and wear bright and colorful polish from now until September!
I love adding new polishes to my collection each year, and this spring has some super cute colors to play with.  If you have a favorite polish color right now, tweet me some more suggestions! @elizabethmayce, I’d love to chat with you!

Spring 2016 Polish

I am so excited to start using bright & punchy spring polish colors!!  Spring is definitely in the air.  Aside from the great weather, I can’t stop sneezing, so, that’s def a sign of the spring season.  This week when I get my manicure I’m making the jump from dark winter colors to lighter more colorful polishes- and I can’t wait!
This spring Essie has an amazing collection of strong bright colors reflecting a Flordia vacation.  I’ll for sure be picking up their Nail Polish Mini Set, which features four of the six polishes from this collection.  The mini set includes High Class Affair, Lounge Lover, Off Tropic, and Sunshine State of Mind.  The colors Shades On and Pool Side Service aren’t included- & I really wish Shades On was a part of the set!!

Another new collection I’m debating about purchasing is Deborah Lippmann’s Sweet for My Sweet Spring 2016 line.  These colors just make me feel so peaceful & happy.  I’m also totally lusting for this Burberry Spring/ Summer Runway Nail Collection, but I probably won’t purchase it.  However, I’m a Chanel polish junkie and I really want to get my hands on Monochrome, which is available later this month.  Seeing that I basically collect Chanel polish at this point, I think I’ll have to pick up this one!

Fall Polish Favorites

I found myself counting down the days until I could switch my polish from light to dark.  My first fall polish this year was Lincoln Park After Dark*, it’s just such a classic I was dying to have it on my nails again.

Lincoln Park After Dark

I’m a huge Essie fan, my top 3 fall colors are After School Boy Blazer*, Carry On, and In the Lobby.  I know I’ll def wear these colors once or twice this fall/ winter season.  If you love greens I highly recommend Stylenomics*

Essie Fall Favorites

One of my favorite fall colors is NARS Storm Bird, which is a couple years old and was limited edition.  I had used up a bottle and was able to find another on eBay.  I paid a pretty penny but this grey blue is absolutely incredible.  I get constant compliments when I’m wearing it.  I also love NARS Superstar and New York Dolls* from their Andy Warhol Collection, fortunately New York Dolls can be found on Amazon!

NARS Fall Polish

As far as Chanel goes, I’m a huge Paradoxal fan and I’m nearing the end of my bottle.  Now that I’m looking my Black Pearl is also coming to an end, tear.  Both of these colors were limited edition and are no longer for sale.  Chanel Orage will be heavy in my color rotation this season, and so will the new fall 2015 Vert Obscur, once it arrives from Nordstrom!

What are your favorite fall polish colors?? I’d love to know!

D.C. Happenings: Summer Girls’ Night Out at the nailsaloon

Last night I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by one of my favorite blogs of all time, Bitches Who Brunch.  Summer Girls’ Night Out, an evening of posh pedicures and manicures, featuring wine and pizza from &pizza, took place at the nailsaloon on 14th street.
As I picked up my bestie Sabah the storm clouds were beyond mean looking, but the soaking wet run into the salon was worth it, nailsaloon is by far the most adorable looking nail salon I’ve ever been in.  When we arrived we were greeted so warmly by Cori Sue of Bitches Who Brunch, and treated to some vino & pizza while we waited for our pedis.

The big draw to the nailsaloon, aside from its chic interior, is the fact that it’s a non-toxic salon.  The only polish brands available are Zoya, RGB, and Priti NYC, because they’re 5-free polishes, which means no toxic ingredients.  I chose a RGB polish, in Pansy…such a gorgeous pink!

While I do have nails that require more toxic attention so to speak, I could see myself going to the nailsaloon for pedicures often.  nailsaloon uses new tools per customer, which I love.  The pedicure also includes a scrub, which is super important to me, followed by both lotion and oil.  The massage was so relaxing, overall the experience was great.
The gift bag was super cute too!  Guests received a water bottle with the nailsaloon logo, Kendra Scott earrings, stickers from &pizza, and a Washington D.C. “Passport” good for 2-for-1 drinks at various bars in the city.
Summer Girls’ Night Out was a fabulous kick off to the summer season, and the nailsaloon was the absolute best location for it!

Thursday’s Fab Five

This color is so exciting & punchy eeeekkk I just love it!  It’s a summery robin’s egg blue color that makes quite the statement.

My current bathroom candle, the smell of grapefruit and rose is light but strong in a great way.  Voluspa candles are so luxurious, the scents are incredible, and they last quite a while.  If you’re looking for new and unique scents I highly advise trying out Voluspa!

NatureBox ‘Harvest Nut Mix’

I subscribe to healthy snack service NatureBox- basically I get three bags of snacks every other month for $14.  My all time favorite snack that I just keep on adding to my pantry is their Harvest Nut Mix, which contains a mixture of peanuts, almonds, edamame, wild rice sticks, and toasted corn.  I’m way more of a savory than sweet person so I stick to those types of snacks.  If you’ve never heard of NatureBox or have been thinking about becoming a member, I highly recommend checking out their website for more information, they have a lot of great subscription options that won’t break the bank!

The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Polynesia Lotus & Frangipani Bathing Milk, $18
I loveeeeeeee this bathing milk, the fragrance is soft and relaxing- perfect after a long day of work.  I bought this on Black Friday, along with a plethora of other bathing milks, and I just finished it this week.  If you’re looking for a new bath product to try, I highly recommend this one!

Essie ‘Good to Go’ Fastest Drying Top Coat, $10
I used this for the first time this week when I did my nails, and it really did dry them quickly.  High shine, dried quickly, and who doesn’t love Essie for everything nails?!

Halloween Nail Art

I typically don’t do my own nails, I’m just not good at it, and my every two weeks mani-pedi are my top zen moments.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I decorate like crazy, and I love having people over to celebrate.  Oh, and I enjoy dressing up my dogs, obviously.  OH OH, and it’s my Mom’s birthday!
I’ve been looking for some inspiring nail art to share with my nail tech.  Today will officially start my super dark nail color choices, my transition color I have on right now is Essie ‘Vested Interest’ from the fall 2013 collection.
from Nordstrom.

I really feel like getting into the Halloween nail art swing of things right about now, so I’ve complied some of my favorite Interweb finds.  Still not sure if I’ll go for any of them, most likely I’ll be boring and back out, but they’re still super fun to look at!
Not sure who created this super cute design!

These incredible nails were created by My Nail Graffiti
I want these nails right now.  Via CrayPolish
