D.C. Happenings: Delicious Food, The Caps, & More!

I had a couple big foodie events this week, and def need to detox through next week to rebalance myself!!

This past Wednesday was Jose Andres’ annual Dine-n-Dash event to benefit World Central Kitchen.   This was my fourth time attending this amazing event, and honestly, it’s my favorite night out in D.C. each year.  A little over 30 restaurants in the Penn Quarter and 14th St areas close for regular service and turn into incredible cocktail parties with passed drinks and hors d’oeuvres.  You start by checking in at your designated restaurant, and then just walk from place to place sipping on cocktails and nomming on the restaurants best.

China Chilcano is by far my favorite- they have, what seems like, endless food options, and I could drink anything with Pisco in it all day long!  I also love the seating vibes in China Chilcano, it’s such a relaxing and chill place, so if you’re in the D.C. area I highly suggest you stop by!  Overall, this event really can’t be beat, it’s so fun, the money goes to a great cause, and it’s a fabulous excuse to go to a bunch of awesome restaurants for delicious food + drinks with your friends!

Another big favorite is Jose Andres’ Oyamel, as seen above, which is a classic D.C. spot.  The drinks are amazing- all different types of margaritas, Mezcal, & tequila tastings.  Perfection, right?  Jose Andres has been dedicated to feeding and rebuilding Puerto Rico since the hurricane.  In an effort to raise awareness and keep people abreast to what has been happening since the hurricane, he designed a space during Dine-n-Dash, The Puerto Rico house, filled with information on what has been done to help Puerto Rico since the hurricane.

In addition to Dine-n-Dash on Wednesday, (I’m anxiously awaiting next years already) I had two events last night!  I’m struggling right now as I write this, especially since I ended up then going out to watch the Caps win the Stanley Cup!!

The first event I went to was my friend Sharonda’s launch party for her Image Consulting Business.  Not only is Sharonda a friend, coworker, and fellow Jersey girl, she also is amazing at helping women craft an image that best suits them & their daily needs.  Her launch party was at the super cute Wunder Garten in NOMA- the space was adorable & it was a great party.

If you live in the D.C. area, check out Sharonda’s site, here– she offers great packages and will def help you set up a style you’re comfortable with!

Next up was the 2nd Annual Taste of North Capitol, which featured restaurants and local businesses in the revitalized North Capitol neighborhood of D.C.  I was so happy to attend this event, it featured some great restaurants like The Pub & the People , Big Bear Cafe, and DCity Smokehouse.

The North Cap committee is so dedicated to making their neighborhood shine, and the NPR Atrium was a lovely venue for the event.  I def want to make a point to check out more of the North Capitol small businesses this summer, it’s an awesome close knit neighborhood and I was so honored to be able to celebrate with them last night!

A very practical Stanley Cup

Lastly, I headed over to The Brig in Eastern Market to watch history be made!!  I go to the Brig a lot and was shocked, and happy, to see it so incredibly crowded for the game!  If you’re a local, you may not know, the Brig shows sports on a massive projector on the side of the building, along with their many, many TVs.  The vibe was awesome, WE HAVE THE CUP, and after celebrating at The Big, my boyfriend and I drove around downtown to take in all the excitement.

Celebrating at The Brig !!

Celebrating in Downtown D.C. !!

There is so much going on in this city, it’s been an awesome week!  I’m really looking forward to PRIDE weekend starting tomorrow, and the Caps parade!  Follow me on Snapchat (@elizabethmayce) and Instagram to see what fun stuff I’m up to this weekend!!
