The weather in D.C. is finally getting itself together. Both yesterday, and today, have been 90 degrees. SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!! With warm weather brings plenty of fun, and mostly, outdoor, District activities that should be on everybody’s to do list.
Toned Up Tuesdays FREE Yoga in CityCenter !!
It’s a leeeetle last minute, but every Tuesday, for the rest of May, CorePower Yoga hosts a free,YES FREE, hour long yoga class. Toned Up Tuesdays is a great way to get in a class, all while enjoying the awesome environment of CityCenter D.C. I haven’t been able to attend this year as of yet, but last year it was super fun! The class is from 6-7pm & you’ll need to bring your own mat…I suggest getting there 5:45 at the latest because it does really full up The workout is totally worth it, and plan ahead & decide what restaurant you’ll be hitting up for drinks after!!
Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour
This is one of my favorite events in the area. I go to both the fall and spring Wine Festival at George Washington’s house, and it’s always a great time. Tons of wine from all around the region, and great prices for any bottles and glasses you might want to enjoy while picnicking on the property. You can also take tours of the house, and wander around the grounds. There’s plenty of food options too, all perfect for pairing with any vino. There are still tickets available, but they’re selling out quickly!!
Wet Dog Tavern Yappy Hour
I love a good Yappy Hour, and so does my dog Leonardo. Wet Dog Tavern will be hosting Yappy Hours on May 13, June 17, and August 12 from 2-5pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Humane Rescue Alliance, which we proudly support, Leonardo was adopted from them! & the HRA will also bring the adoption van!! Wet Dog Yappy Hour is a great way to socialize yourself, and your pet, so def put that on your District To Do list for the summer.
Washington Nationals Pups in the Park
Yet another dog friendly event, the Pups in the Park is always a good time! There are 4 more Pups in the Park games for this season, click the link above for ticket information. On Saturday, June 23, there’s a special pregame parade & yes, Leonardo already has his ticket. & if you’re wondering, there’s a dog-friendly outfield reserved section for humans and their pups.
Jazz in the Garden
The Sculpture Garden hosts Jazz in the Garden on Friday evenings, beginning May 18th until August 24th, 5:00- 8:30pm. This is a great event, although you can’t bring in your own libations…but it’s still a great time!! There’s nothing like bringing your favorite blankets/ towels to picnic on & tons of great appetizers for a cocktail hour with a twist.
