D.C. is bustling this time of year with holiday events and pop-ups everywhere you look. One event I make sure to attend every year, since college actually, is MetroCooking D.C., aka the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show. This year the convention will take place on both Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10- each day has its own unique offerings along with hundreds of food, drink, and exhibitors. With a tagline like Shop. Sip. Sample. you know it has to be good. Shopping, sipping, and sampling are three of my favorite hobbies!
On Wednesday night I attend the media preview party for MetroCooking D.C. at Hill Country BBQ in D.C. First of all, I’m a huge Hill Country BBQ fan, so I was super excited to enjoy some great food & drink while hearing more about the upcoming event. Hill Country BBQ had a great set up, appetizers, brisket, corn bread, cookies…all super yum.
The featured drink of the evening was their Texas Tea, I’m not a rye drinker, but this was delicious…so delish I had 3! While sipping and nom-ing we learned a little bit more about what the MetroCooking D.C. Weekend will offer.

You can buy General Admission tickets for either Saturday, 12/9 or Sunday, 12/10. The different events on each day might sway your decision for which to pick, so here’s a quick rundown…
For the Saturday program, MetroCooking D.C. is featuring a BBQ Bash, while on Sunday it switches to the Grand Tasting Pavilion. I personally love the Grand Tasting Pavilion, and I can’t wait to go on Sunday! Both days feature the Beer, Wine, & Spirits Garden which is amazing, Taste Talks, cooking demos, and VIP Meet & Greets.
After seeing all this I know you want to buy some tickets, right?!
You can buy all the tickets here,
and use code PUERTORICO to help chef Jose Andres give back to those in need from the hurricane. A general admission ticket costs $21.50 per day. If you want to go to the BBQ Bash ($50), BBQ Bash + Beer, Wine, & Spirits Garden ($75), Grand Tasting Pavilion ($65), or Grand Tasting Pavilion + Beer, Wine, & Spirits Garden ($85) you must order your tickets ahead of time! Each of those tickets includes the price of the general admission, so you do not need to buy that separately.
I’ll be at the event on Sunday, December 10, so let me know if you’ll be there too!
