I was speaking with a friend the other day about how she’s thinking of getting a new car since hers has been giving her trouble lately. As we were talking I was thinking, when is the right time for me to start brainstorming of new car ideas? I’ve been so lucky with my Mercedes, but as it gets older, and racks up the miles (240,000 so far), I know the reality of me needing to purchase a car in the future is real. Collective sigh.
So, while I know buying a car in the super near future is def not on my to do list, it doesn’t hurt to start thinking about the process, and what I should be prepared for. I’ve teamed up with Cars.com to think through some key points I need to write down for when that time comes, and I’m hoping my POV of a twenty-something young professional is helpful to any of my readers that may be going through this process, or are like me and are at least getting prepared.
First, I want to make sure I have enough $$$ saved up for a down payment. I’m all about that certified pre-owned life, & I love the What Price Should You Pay feature on the Cars.com website. I can choose to view Certified Cars, the make, model, and the max amount I’d like to spend. From there there’s a price comparison tool, and you have the ability to save and compare cars when you make a free account.
We all know you need to do some homework, ha teacher talk, when buying a car…but it really is super important. If you’re going to make a big choice like this, you of course want to make sure you’re doing it right!! I love the options Cars.com gives to make sure you’re making the best choice for you, finding what you want is super important in terms of price & style, but you can also find out a lot of safety info through Cars.com as well, which should always be top priority.
I hope you all have a great weekend, & if purchasing a car is around the corner for you, I hope sharing this resource will help!
